A Conference on “Saving the World”
Can Science, Religion, Economics, and Politics come together? Can they come together to focus their separate and collective energies on the question of human survival and well-being?
The Green Horizon Foundation and Bowdoin College are together making plans for a conference to answer this question. The plan is to come up with ways in which these four disciplines can act together to save the human race and the world’s many other creatures now under the threat of unimaginable suffering and destruction.
The plan is to hold this conference at Bowdoin in Brunswick, Maine over a period of four days (Saturday to Tuesday) in mid-October 2009.
Four or five special presenters will be selected in each of the four disciplines. A general call will go out inviting scholars, journalists, reporters, editors, politicians, and interested citizens, as well as Bowdoin students and faculty, to come and participate. There will be panels and small groups and there will be a general assembly in which, using skills honed in many participatory settings, the entire body of participants will come up with recommendations for action.
